   A couple of weeks ago this pigeon made a nest, and laid two eggs, in our window well. Problem is, these choady roofers will be building a sealed skylight very soon. Not enough time for the eggs to hatch and the chicks to fly off. Worried, we called ACC and asked what we could do. Apparently, they can't build if there are eggs or a nest there. The Wildlife Protection Act. Pretty cool. Yeah, I know "just another dumb pigeon." But if you were to see how hard she worked on her nest, read about how the female and male share 'sitting on egg' duties, and how the dad also has a secretion to feed his young along with the mother, you might think otherwise. More interesting and nurturing than a lot of people. How did I get so soft, boring and elitist about animals and animal rights? and why? Just seems to make sense to me right now.
   She looks like a hunkered chicken.
