really cool genius
So, my macbook pro has been shutting down when not plugged in for no reason even when fully powered. Me being the techno moron I am, I had no other place to turn than the genius bar inside the san francisco's apple store. After waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time I was finally waited on. I told the guy my situation with the power, blah blah, etc. He said "Most likely the clock inside the battery. They have a shelf life of about 2 to 3 years but sometimes give out earlier. It's telling you you're at 60% power when you 're not. Do you have applecare? Because you're warranty has expired. And a new battery is $130." I say,"Nope. No applecare." Now I'm in a pickle. You see, I don't have a $130 bucks. And like most of you who are reading this blog (Well, the few of you. I'm realistic.) I NEED my computer.
Now I read mostly bitching, complaining, how everyone at the genius bar are clones and try and sell you shit, but I have to say this dude was super cool. He says "Since you had to wait so long there'll be no charge on the battery." Now, he's not even sure it's the battery, hes just giving me one on the decent chance that it is. Then the dude gives me a 90-day warranty on a battery I didn't even buy. It's my only experience, and it may be isolated, but seeing that mostly complaining goes into blog posts, I figure an "atta-boy" is well- earned here. Nice work applettes.
